This is an authentic replacement brush set which is supplied directly from the original equipment manufacturer for use with Bosch reciprocating saws. The purpose of carbon brushes is to conduct current in an electric motor which powers the tool, over time brushes will wear away eventually requiring a replacement to ensure peak performance.
